“When I met the coaches and the folks working out (they call them superheroes), I realized that it was not a GYM I was joining, but rather a cool hangout place where not only I will get in shape, but I will make genuine friends and a solid support system.”
After a recent MRI results showed that I had fatty liver and if I didn’t address it that it would be an irreversible condition that would eventually lead to liver damage. I knew I needed to make a change so I reached out to my friends and one of them referred me to AMP.
Over the past few years I have tried many gyms and even personal trainers but none of them worked out. Why you ask, well, I can pin point several issues and faults with them but real reason was me. I would find any excuse to justify why I wouldn’t go to classes or sessions. Keeping this mind, AMP fitness center was already a “NO” in my books because I live in suburbs and AMP is in Boston, an hour long drive to get to the gym and any normal person would rule that out in a heart beat. But I decided to give it a try since they had a free trial class.
It was surprisingly easy to get started because of the silly and fun family environment at AMP. When I met the coaches and the folks working out (they call them superheroes), I realized that it was not a gym I was joiningrather a cool hangout place where I will not only get in shape but I will make genuine friends and a solid support system.
If asked what my struggles were, the person who I was before AMP would have said, I didn’t have time. But this new person will call old me out on that. I had time because I spend 4 hours on an average every day on the couch watching TV and doing nothing, What I didn’t have was (1) a place where I can be out of shape and not be judged for it, (2) a trainer (coaches!) who genuinely vested in me and my health, and (3) accountability and regular check-ins to make sure I am on track and living my best life. AMP had all of those things.
I lost over 6 pounds in the first couple of months and gained 4 pounds of muscles. I struggle with personal issue that drag me down mentally and physically but now I feel good. Exercise is a part of my life style now and eating healthy is a goal that I accomplish every day.
AMP is not a gym. It’s a community where people care for each other and help each other out. The superheroes are normal people of all types of shape and sizes doing awesome things. Coaches are silly but attentive. They make you feel at ease. I always wanted a big family and now I got one!!
AMP is truly one of the very few places where you learn a ton and working out is actually fun!
