I initially joined AMP because I had just moved to Boston and wanted to make a change in my fitness. I had been struggling with my weight for a while; gaining a lot, doing crash diets, losing it, and then gaining it all right back.

My biggest concern was having NO IDEA what I was doing and embarrassing myself. That was completely not the case. The intro sessions at AMP were perfect and Lindsay immediately made me feel comfortable.  I also tried Classpass for month after that to check out different fitness options but I just didn’t get the same welcoming feel at any other studios. I’ve been at AMP ever since, about a year now!

Getting started was hard at first and the most difficult part for me was being self-conscious.  But the atmosphere at AMP was so amazing and that fear quickly went away. I continued because for the first time in a long time I was starting to be comfortable with my body again and started appreciating my strengths instead of constantly seeing the problems.  The coaches helped me start focusing on building myself up rather than trying to ‘lose’.

Before AMP, my biggest fitness struggle was not sticking with anything.  I would get into a habit, start working out and eating healthy and then not stick to it for very long.  I always ended up back where I started.  Having a routine at AMP has really helped me set goals and stick to them and continue making progress. Better every day!  Having the coaches check in and be so readily available has also helped a ton!

I can honestly say for the first time in a long time I am finally comfortable with myself and my body. My success at AMP has also helped me be more confident in all other areas of my life, too!

My best piece of advice is have is to focus on small life/fitness changes and not on size or weight.  Before AMP my goal whenever I worked out was to lose weight, and it hardly ever worked.  If it did, it didn’t last very long. Now, I focus on getting stronger and being healthier and the results have made me not only more physically fit but, overall, a healthier and happier person.

I would recommend AMP because it’s not just a gym. It’s a home and it’s amazing to be a part of a team that is welcoming, encouraging and fun.

So the pictures sum up my journey pretty well.  I honesty can’t say how much weight I’ve lost since I don’t feel like I have to check the scale anymore.  But I went from a size 12 pant to a size 6.  Regardless of the size… I’m way more proud of all the awesome personal goals I’ve achieved at AMP!
