I joined AMP after good my friends Molly and Dave had just started training with them and raved about the program and atmosphere. They said it was fun, effective and reasonably priced.
I started having some lower back pain at the time and was at a physical therapy session where the practitioner blamed poor mobility from lack of exercise. She gave me a rubber band and showed me how to do some exercises with it attached to a door. “Oh my God, these are exercises for people like my mother who have never been to the gym,” I thought. How embarrassing. It was obvious that I needed a lifestyle change.
Right away, it was great. Steve took the time to ask all the right questions, quickly identified injuries and limitations that I hadn’t even mentioned, and introduced me to everyone on the floor. Within a day I had a comprehensive program and was on my way. It was too easy not to continue, as long as I just got those two classes a week into my schedule.

My biggest struggle at first was finding the time and headspace to build a healthier lifestyle – just first forming the habit to go to AMP twice a week, then the habit of doing cardio regularly, and then focusing on how to eat better. These things happened slowly and in a series over two years. I kept thinking about something Steve told me very early on – that it takes at least a year to really cement a habit. It was the right key takeaway, because not only is it correct, but it kept me focused on challenging myself to get to the year mark.
Fast forward to now and I'm 15 pounds lighter, have no back pain, lead a more active lifestyle, am more nimble and way more able to do big jobs around the house. I eat MUCH better. And I have far greater endurance in hiking, skiing the backcountry and all other athletic endeavors. My blood pressure is lower. Oh, and I'm much better looking in swim trunks!
Above all else, AMP is a truly special place with thoughtful, attentive and committed coaches that really do help people live their best life, and to achieve their own personal goals. They make it so easy to not only get started but awesome enough to keep going and getting better every time you train. Since the workouts are fun, compact & efficient and since you see #gainz so quickly, it’s super easy to stay motivated and keep coming back. The community that Steve, Lindsay and the whole AMP team have created is really wonderful and supportive. I can't recommend them enough!
